The office of Mother of the Flame is selected from among the most highly evolved women devotees of the [[World Mother]]. She holds a life tenure unless removed for failure or incompetence.  

In 1961 '''[[Clara Louise Kieninger]]''' was named the first Mother of the Flame of the [[Keepers of the Flame Fraternity]] by [[Saint Germain]].  

On April 9, 1966, that [[mantle]] was transferred to the Messenger '''[[Elizabeth Clare Prophet]]'''.  

At that time Clara Louise Kieninger became the Regent Mother of the Flame. She made her [[ascension]] on October 25, 1970, in Berkeley, California, and continues to hold that office from the ascended level.
