The conflict in the Middle East is a complex situation that seems to defy solution. This paper provides a spiritual background to inspire illumined prayer and spiritual work for divine solutions to come forth in the Middle East conflict. The information is from the teachings of Mark L. Prophet and Elizabeth Clare Prophet, messengers for the ascended masters. The masters have been speaking about the spiritual equation in the Middle East through their messengers since the 1960s. Their teachings embody universal truths, but they were also delivered in the context of events occurring in the world at that time. We can each ponder their application to the events of today.

This strife augmented by so many divisions and so many individuals seeking power within the Middle East has long been considered the trump card of the fallen ones. If all else fails, they intend to explode that condition in the Middle East....

Beloved ones, the entire Middle East is a setup. It is a setup of the fallen ones and the conspiracy of the fallen ones. Precious hearts of light, America is the Promised Land. It is the place prepared for the sons and daughters of God. Who are, then, the usurpers who would attempt to manipulate real estate, land, wealth, oil, and all of the resources? Those among both Arabs and Jews and those who are the impostors of both moving among them, for the fallen ones have also embodied among the Arabs and the Jews to take advantage of that karma that has existed between them.

There is right and wrong on all sides of the Middle East conflict. There are people of light on all sides and in all nations, just as there are fallen ones in every nation involved in the conflict. The situation is worsened by the intensity of the emotions that arise in this part of the world. Hatred and anger become blinding and eventually produce insanity that outpictures on the world scene.

The Palestinians are displaced persons. And so they were living in Syria, in Jordan. They have been kicked out of these areas and they have made their home in Lebanon, where they have built their stronghold in defense of their cause, which is a just cause. And this is the problem of the entire situation.

The Palestinians need a homeland. Their homeland has been stripped from them by the people of Israel.<ref>In November 1947, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a plan that divided the former British mandate of Palestine into two states: one majority Arab and one majority Jewish. The Palestinian Arabs rejected the plan and attacked Jewish civilian areas and paramilitary targets. Following Israel’s declaration of independence in May 1948, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Transjordan attacked the new state of Israel, but Israeli forces soundly defeated the Arab armies, and Israel took control of much of the territory that would have been allocated to the Arab state. During the war, 700,000 Palestinian Arabs fled from their homes or were expelled by Zionist militias. Many refugees from the war expected to return once the fighting had ceased, but Israel made it illegal for them to return and brought in Jewish settlers to occupy the abandoned houses.

Many refugees from the war expected to return once the fighting had ceased, but Israel made it illegal for them to return and brought in Jewish settlers to occupy the abandoned houses. An event that accelerated the Palestinian exodus was the April 14, 1948, attack on Deir Yassin, an Arab village near Jerusalem, carried out by Irgun, a Jewish terrorist organization. The attackers “killed most of its inhabitants—240 men, women, and children—and kept a few of them alive to parade as captives through the streets of Jerusalem” (Isidore Abramowitz et al., letter to the New York Times, published December 4, 1948, quoted by the messenger, July 18, 1982). Irgun also carried out attacks on the British administration in Palestine, including bombing the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, resulting in 91 deaths. Another wave of Palestinians fled as refugees during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. In the decades following the war, taking of Palestinian lands to build Jewish settlements accelerated, and by the late 1980s, the Israeli government had taken about 40% of the land that had been occupied by Palestinians on the West Bank. For a comprehensive legal analysis of the taking of Palestinian land, see Stacy Howett, “Palestinian Private Property Rights in Israel and the Occupied Territories,” Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law, 34:1, November 2000.
