“Know Thyself”
An ancient proverb attributed to several sources, among them Thales and Solon of Athens (two of the Seven Wise Men of Greece) and Socrates. Cicero speaks of it as a precept of Apollo.
It was one of the maxims inscribed in gold letters over the portico of the temple at Delphi.
