मूल जाति जीवात्माओं का वो एक समूह है जो सभी एक साथ पृथ्वी पर जन्म लेती हैं। इन सब एक विशिष्ट आदर्श स्वरूप होता है, सबकी एक ही दिव्य योजना होती है और उसे पूरा करने का ध्येय भी एक ही होता है। गुह्य परंपरा के अनुसार, सभी जीवात्माएं सात मूल जातियों में विभाजित हैं।

आदम और हव्वा के पतन से पहले तीन स्वर्ण युगों में, पहली तीन मूल जातियाँ पृथ्वी पर पवित्रता और निर्मलता के साथ रहती थीं। ब्रह्मांडीय नियमों का पालन और वास्तविक आत्मा के साथ पूर्ण तादात्म्य स्थापित करके, इन तीन मूल जातियों ने अमरत्व प्राप्त कर लिया था तथा वे पृथ्वी से ऊपर के आयामों में चली

चौथी मूल जाति के समय में लेमुरिया महाद्वीप पर पतित देवदूतों के अत्याधिक प्रभाव के परिणाम स्वरुप मानवता का पतन हुआ। इन पतित देवदूतों को सर्प के रूप में जाना जाता है, संभवतः इसलिए क्योंकि इन्होने रीढ़ की सर्पिल ऊर्जा का उपयोग जीवात्मा (जिसका रूप एक निर्मल स्त्री के सामान होता है) को बेवक़ूफ़ बनाकर ईश्वर के पुत्रों को नपुंसक बनाने के लिए किया।

चौथी, पाँचवीं और छठी मूल जातियाँ (छठी मूल जाति जीवात्मा समूह अभी पूरी तरह से भौतिक अवतार में नहीं उतरा है) आज भी पृथ्वी पर अवतरित हैं। सातवीं मूल जाति का कुंभ युग में दक्षिण अमेरिका महाद्वीप पर अवतार लेना तय है।

मनु

प्रत्येक मूल जाति एक मनु (संस्कृत में इन्हे “पूर्वज” या “कानून देने वाला” कहते हैं) के तत्वावधान में अवतरित होती है, जो उस जाति के लिए ईश्वरीय छवि का प्रतीक है।

हिमालय और उनकी दिव्य पूरक चौथी मूल जाति के मनु हैं।
वैवस्वत मनु और उनकी पत्नी पाँचवीं मूल जाति के मनु हैं।
देव और देवी मेरु छठी मूल जाति के मनु हैं।
महान दिव्य निर्देशक और उनकी दिव्य पूरक आने वाली सातवीं मूल जाति के मनु हैं।
